FRIDAY...

GOOD MORNING!!!! Well been thinking about a lot of different ideas that are going on . I just wish i could think about them after 6 am but ohhhh no it has to be at four in morning, first of all I like this blog because at four in the morning nobody will listen to me, not even my cat Lela...
before I had to write every thing in journal now get on computer...much easier...with a cup of espresso coffee and ready to go....

There are things going on that are out of my control, and that worries me. I try very hard to look at things in different ways...and I really want to be fair about it but sometimes it doesn't matter how many ways I look at a situation it is what it is....it doesn't have my best interest at heart....so when that happens it's 4 am and I'm writing instead sleeping. Sometimes making some decisions that you might not want to make it's difficult, but sometimes if you don't make them it's going to be made for you...why give someone that kind of power...might as well do what it is that you need to do and get it over with...I am all about compromising, but most people have a problem with this word it's their way or the highway......I have a problem with that, unless it's done fairly....... you have to compromise but you can't ever compromise your dignity....your self respect...because that makes you who you are....ITS ABOUT CREDIBILITY, LOYALTY, AND TRUST...even if people think you are being unfair. Sometimes it doesn't matter how many different ways you look at a situation, the results are always the same...UNFAIR... so i guess i have a lot of work cut out for me today...nobody ever said it was easy, and it never is.....well thanks for listening..... TUESDAY!!!!!

Yesterday was a really bad day, I'm hoping today It's going to be a good one, OK, I know sometimes I write on here like I'm writing to friends that I really know, and every time I make these kind of entries my friends will call me, worried about me...and for that I'm sorry for making u worry about me...that is not my intend...I guess I react very badly when I think I'm being taken advantage of.....for the people that know me they know it takes a long time for me to get to the point of me feeling that upset...but for the people that don't know me I know I must sound like a very difficult,and angry person, so for those people I will give you an explanation....

You see I am a very loyal , and trusting person.... In business, and in my personal life....so sometimes both in business and personally, I find it difficult when the same courtesy is not returned....I find that everyday there is someone that feels they have the right to test those qualities...I will do anything for anybody and all I ask that I.m treated with the same courtesy...

IS IT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND????? IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ME IF YOU ARE A FRIEND, OR SOMEONE I DO BUSINESS WITH, IF WE HAVE AN AGREEMENT, I AM TRUSTING YOU.... (AND MORE THAN ANYTHING I HATE TO LOSE FAITH IN PEOPLE)

Unfortunately, you would think that I would not be so gullible, when you invest in people, you want to believe that they can be trusted, it doesn't matter to me who it is...because of these beliefs, sometimes I get burned......because I have come to the conclusion you can't think with your heart....I'm very passionate in what I believe, and what I do, so what does that mean???

Well it means that not everybody is loyal, and trusting, and It's very difficult for me to accept that, because those are very important qualities in my book...call me stupid, but if you don't have trust and loyalty, what the heck is there.....

So for the calls i received from my friends yesterday after I made the entry, don't worry about me, I am a big girl, and as you already know, I can take care of myself....and when I need you I know you are there for me...and I appreciate that more than you will ever know, you have pulled me through some very tough periods in my life, and I value all of your loyalties, and your support....and i know you want to protect me ....so thank you to all of my friends that care about me... and for the readers, thank you for listening...MEL

MONDAY!!!!

Well i can honestly say this is the worst day that i have had in a long time since Christmas ....it's been maddening, DISAPPOINTING LIKE NOBODY WOULD BELIEVE!!!!! aggravating to no end!!!! really bad day I'm glad I'm working tonight at my new part time job (at another time i will tell you all about it) it will keep me out of trouble!!! I REALLY NEED THAT TODAY!!!!!!

some days doing my job is easier then others....today was a very emotional day ta...for lots of different reasons....anybody that knows where our shop is located you must know how hard today is.....but have to deal with it.....be supportive, and understanding, it's really hard to remain professional, and not emotional, when there are people that are dealing with lots of grief...wish could take the pain away....but all you can do is listen....unfortunately i can relate to lot of these individuals, and it hurts really bad....i know lot of you won't understand this post...but please know i appreciate you listening....Mel

I'm so excited i just finished talking to my niece Nina, on facebook!!!she is in Italy and she will be coming home soon!!!! yahhhhhhh..Miss her very much!!! the reason i joined Facebook is because i know lots of family members in Italy are on Facebook, i got in touch with my cousin Cinzia, I havent seen her in a long time, even though I'm not thatgood with computers I'm trying to be better at it!!! Nina whn you go on the Blog, you can leave comments so i will know you went on and see what you think, I hope to post some of the pictures from Thresa's wedding!!! I figured the day after Valentine's day good day to lounge around very hard week!!!! But good day Yesterday!!!! no time to celebrate Valentine but glad that i helped my customers have a great day with BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS FROM MORNING GLORY!!! Well as far as celabrating got breakfast in bed this morning....love breakfast in bed!!!!! from my husband Domenic and my son Angelo.....and i got to lounge around all day!!!!! Angelo missed me all week...I'm trying to post one of his pictures...the sunshine of my life!!!!

Well It's 12 AM and all I see is ROSES, ROSES, ROSES.....I'm pretty tired but It was a great day at morning Glory, very, very, busy Thank God!! All the arrangements we made for our in house customers got all sold!!!! yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! So I'm trying to make more arrangements so tomorrow our customers will have a good selection to choose from...well I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC VALENTINE'S DAY!!!! Please do some extra celebrating for me to. I know what I will be doing,,,,flowers, flowers, flowers. I can't believe IT'S ALMOST HERE, VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!! I know it is a crazy week for florist shops but you know what I LOVE VALENTINE!!! ROMANCE, ROMANCE, ROMANCE!!!!!

It's my one of my favorite Holiday!!!! but of course with me EVERYTHING is about romance!!!
I know lot of people will tell you it's silly!!!of course i will never agree!!! romance is one of those little perks in life that with one little gesture can make someone happy!!!!! It's such a simple thing to do I don't understand why it's so frequently ignored....Me personally romance is essential every day...It can't be just on Valentine's Day (maybe its the business I'm in, no it's always been important) It doesn't have to be so complicated like people like think it is....A walk on the beach under the stars, a card just because, a picnic in a park, little message just telling that special person how you feel, candle light dinner, with favorite bottle of champagne, candle light evening just talking w/soft music dancing to your favorite tune it doesn't have to be a Big Deal, surprising that special person with something they aren't expecting....ah ROMANCE it's sure makes the heart feel good......I know I'm being silly but without romance what is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's all those little acts that make life intresting, no matter when it will come to mind, IT PUTS A SMILE ON YOUR FACE!!!!!!!

Hi everybody...
Well all in all it was a pretty good week at Morning Glory, preparation for Valentine are going according to plan...that is a good thing!!!!good week for bridal consultations....I Love doing consultations.....I get to talk to my brides and share in preparations with their upcoming wedding, and helping them decide what designs for bouquets and centerpieces would make their day even more spectacular it's so much fun...I LOVE IT...it's the beginning of the journey that brings me to their wedding day where I get to actually design their wedding flowers....for me as a designer of course THE BEST PART....well the best part actually is when my bride and groom and their families see what they chose to REALITY!!! That is an amazing feeling!!! to know that you had a small part in making their wedding day even more special...and to see their faces with happiness in what you have created there are no words to express how it makes me feel....well there are but it would take all day to tell you....most of my brides might have pictures, or ideas of what they like, but most of the time I have to sell them my visions, that I can only see in my head...i do a sample of a centerpiece...but really how can they really see everything that's in my head???That is why it's so important for the brides to choose a florist they can trust, and make that professional, and personal connection with...It's so very, very, important because, i don't have just a consultation with my brides I encourage them if there is anything that they need to discuss or change, come in and see me...anytime, bring in the mom, or the fiance', and we will go over things, this was the kind of shop I dreamed of having, where regardless if you are a bride or a regular customer, or just somebody going by the shop and you want to check things out, I love being part of someones dream coming true....it doesn't matter if it's just a wrapped bouquet...but that wrapped bouquet is going to make someones day a little happier...and to me THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!!!!! Everybody always says what a special gift I have with designing....and I believe if It is a gift then it was given to me for a reason, so I could share it, and that's what I'm trying to do....Everybody has their own special gift, I Am So Lucky to be able to share it with anybody that walks in to Morning Glory....I Feel Blessed....Thanks for listening Mel

My beautiful bride Theresa...

This was a wedding to remember....Linda and I were our brides and her family guests....Theresa was what made this wedding so much fun....she was having the time of her life!!!! the DJ came from NY city they had so many gadgets!!!! and the guest were having so much fun...The wedding was held at The ALDRICH MANSION In Warwick....OH My God...This PLACE IS UNBELIVABLE...THE VIEW IS SPECTACULAR....THE STAFF IS AMAZING....THE FOOD IS GREAT.....during the months that we were trying to design this wedding, we made so many trips to the Alrich Mansion, and what I was impressed by was the fact no matter how many times my bride called for us to go back and finilize all the details, The staff always treated us like it was the first time they met us....always accomodating and happy to see us...we were there a lot!!!my staff and I were very impressed how professional, but accomodating, and friendly they were, and since we were there for reception, The service was great, and they were very accomodating.

Hi everybody!!!!
I know it's been a while!!! Well since the New Year I'm sorry I haven't been writing It seems after the Holidays there is more work to be done, we had to take down all the Christmas decorations at Morning Glory, it was kind of sad Christmas is my favorite Holiday, I love all the decorations, and the Christmas trees, and just the way everything looks so festive...the shop looked so naked without all the beautiful, greenery garlands, and decorations, so we started to decorate for Valentine...unfortunately being the first year for all of our holidays we don't have many decorations but slowly we are getting some a little bit at the time. Plus when you don't have many store bought decorations, you have to use your imagination to come up with some unique ideas... And trying to get organized!!!!!!! This is a challenge to stay organized!!!! Spent some time with friends, at the store trying to come up with different displays with Meredi for her cards and coming up with specials with Cynthia from Chocolate Dreams for Valentine's day where we can incorporate CHOCOLATES & ROSES...that's what Valentine is all about, romance, roses, chocolates.....hmmmmm can't wait...Valentine is my other favorite Holiday...IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ROMANCE!!!!!! So any way that's what's been going on....thanks for listening MEL

NEW YEAR "2009"

Hope everybody is enjoying the New Year!!! It's been a great day it always is when you spend time with all the special people in your life....Spend New Years Eve at home with my husband and one of my sons.....it was quiet and relaxing....But I did miss the rest of my family, but the weather wasn't so great so we decided to stay home and got together today....stopped by Morning Glory this morning for a little while because we closed yesterday because of the weather....it's unbelievable how weired it felt missing one day....some of my friends saw my van and stopped by to wish me a Happy New Year it was great seeing them...it makes the Holiday complete....well tomorrow is back to normal....I'm kind of looking forward to it.... I WISH EVERYBODY A HAPPY AND HEALTHY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.....well again thanks for listening....MEL

Hi everybody!!!! I think tonight I would like to give you a little bit of background about how Morning Glory came about, I have wanted to do this from the very beginning but at first I was trying to get the hang of blogging and then the Holiday Season came so fast and I didn't have the time to really go into details....But I think It's important that you have a little of background....about Linda and I....

Linda and I met about 3 years ago...I was partner and head florist at a local florist shop...she was friends with my partners and at first we just worked together , she did the books, she did deliveries, she was around quite a bit...the last year the florist shop was opened we worked together on a regular basis, and we started being friends, don't know exactly if we were really that close.

working together on a regular basis, we got to know each other, how we felt about the business, and the first time we were pretty sure the florist shop was going to close, I was looking for a job..couldn't find one...i was heart broken about the shop closing, but I know it was the best for everybody concerned....the problem was that even though I always dreamed of having my own flower shop I was scared.....

My husband thought I should take the risk, or I would always regret it....I was scared of failing, but his thought on this was if i tried to do it and failed it would be sad but at least I wouldn't have no regrets for not trying at all. He believes in me and encouraged me to GO FOR IT!!!!


So that's where Linda came in the picture she agreed with my husband, and she believed in my talent.... and she offered to be partners if I was willing to try and take a chance because I didn't want to do it alone.

Linda is the business part of Morning Glory and I'm the Creative part of the business....

We knew it was going to be hard just the two of us, but it's so much harder, than we thought, Thank God , we are so much more busier than we thought...so my partner is being great she's even trying to design and she is doing great....I'm so proud of her....WE WORK VERY HARD, AT THIS POINT IT HAS TO BE JUST ME AND HER, HOPEFULLY IN THE FUTURE WE WILL BE ABLE TO GET SOME EXTRA HELP....BUT FOR NOW IT'S YOU AND ME PARTNER....AND THIS IS HOW MORNING GLORY CAME ABOUT, TWO FRIENDS BELIEVING IN EACH OTHER AND A DREAM.....ITS OUR BABY!!! AND IN THIS PROCESS WE HAVE BECOME NOT ONLY PARTNERS BUT ALSO BEST FRIENDS...AND WE CAN DEPEND ON EACH OTHER FOR ANYTHING....PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY.....THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR..THROUGH THE GOOD AND THROUGH THE BAD..... WE DO MAKE A FANTASTIC TEAM....

WELL CHRISTMAS IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAHHHHH!!!!!

First let me tell you how hard this Holiday Season really was.....VERY, VERY, HARD!!!!!!

But let me clarify my comments about TRUST....any time weather personally, or professionally someone breaks their word.....there is a breach of trust....I'm a fanatic when it comes to trust, personally and professionally....MEREDIE...THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU MY FRIEND....I'M FINE....SO PLEASE DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME....It has to do something that happened to me and I just felt betrayed..I'M FINE OK....maybe it shouldn't have made it to the blog..but putting so many hours in at work I only had access to my computer...plus I have always had a journal....I express my self through my designs and putting my feelings on paper...so this is very natural to me that's why I love blogging...

So on with our week it was unbelievably hard, long hours, one overnight to finish orders, delivering till 10:pm on Christmas Eve and doing re deliveries on Christmas Day...We just had to make sure that all our customers got their orders...they trusted Morning Glory to make sure their loved ones received their flowers and we wouldn't dream of disappointing them....see trust again.....VERY IMPORTANT....even if meant myself and Linda and our friend had to do the deliveries on Christmas Day....I GUESS WHEN YOU DO A JOB THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO....THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT.....NOW WE HAVE VALENTINE DAY TO LOOK FORWARD TO....AT LEAST WE HAVE SIX WEEKS TO GET READY....HA HA HA NEVER CAN BE READY FOR ANY KIND HOLIDAY IF U ARE A FLORIST.....THAT'S IT ....THANKS FOR LISTENING MEL

WEDNESDAY!!!

Well it's a new day!!! sorry for being so sentimental last night. The Holidays are always difficult for me, you can't even imagine what a night of good sleep can do for you..and loving arms to keep you safe. I have been putting in lots and lots of hours at work, lost A VERY IMPORTANT COMMODITY last night, TRUST, and I was feeling sorry for myself...but i have so much to be grateful for Morning Glory is holding it's own.....my family is safe and well, difficult times can always be made easier when you have people that love you.....and Thank God I have so many people that believe in what I'm doing that, want me to be happy and supportive of what I do, (beautiful flowers), a season isn't so little after all for some people.....I have all the support from people that truly LOVE ME....and I'm grateful to all of them for the rest of my life....
THAT'S WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE......HONESTY, TRUST, LOVE AND HAPPINESS.....

It's very difficult loosing someone you love, we loose so many people we love and the Holidays are the worst times..... but I keep remembering a poem a very special person sent me at a very difficult time in my life....some people are in your life for a lifetime some for a season....I guess the holidays make you think of people you have lost....sorry being so sad tonight...and thanks for listening.... TIP OF THE DAY!!

If you buy Christmas centerpieces please don't forget to add water every day, the greens and the flowers are inserted in foam, the flowers and the greens will absorb the water, so please add water everyday , find a spot on the side of container and keep it wet, otherwise your greens and the flowers are going to dry out fast and that also applies for Christmas Trees that are made in foam.....

Another thing to remember is when ordering your Christmas Centerpieces with candles, ask your florist about adding a globe, it's a lot safer, sometimes when we have company we forget that a candle is burning , Keep the Holidays SAFE!!!! MEL

PS: DON'T FORGET TO BUY SOME MISTLETOE!!!!!! WHAT'S CHRISTMAS WITHOUT MISTLETOE.....IT MAKES FOR A VERY ROMANTIC HOLIDAY SEASON...HO HO HO !!!

Well let's see Whew!!! A lot it's happened this week, "Ribbon Cutting" It was great! nerve racking, but great. Morning Glory is Official!!!!!! Our state Rep. Pat Serpa presented Linda and I with a Citation from the state of RI....the PVChamber give us a Citation and a Plaque...Diane our Chamber Rep and friend made us cry she gave a wonderful speech how we deserve to succeed because we love what we do and we work so hard, so she was so sweet with our family and friends watching us, Linda and I both started to cry, all of our friends and family believe in us but Diane is been one of our biggest supporter...always gives us good sound professional advice.

It was real hard to get the store ready exactly the way we wanted it to look, lots of long hours...Thank God (ta) it all turned out just the way things should be......our first open house was this weekend it was good, Meredie came over and worked on our Family Gallery door "She is so talented" We post all of the thank you cards, prom pictures, wedding pictures, and Meredie is doing the whole project.....She's Fabulous!!!!

OH YAH!!!! I forgot to tell you We also got a really nice write up in the local paper which it was great, it explained how Linda and I want to promote local artisans, like Meridie, and one of our designers Dolores does favors, and how we enjoy being part of the community, and how we want Morning Glory to be a place where our clients come in and feel like they are part of our family.... IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!!

All and all it's was a great week(ta) professionally and personally to have events that you can share with special people in your life what more could ask for it feels like Christmas already!!!

Wed!!!

Well it was a very busy day, Lot's of running around!! and orders to fill...each day we get more And more clients from the neighborhood, with special request which is really good, worked till 10:45pm since 8:am this morning, so I'm pretty tired so I won't bore you with details tonight...

We did accomplish a lot though, we finally got heat, we got the lights in the work room fixed, and we got a FREE cooler to store flowers thanks to Jim from my designing school.

Tuesday!!!

Well today was a day to start getting ready for our ribbon cutting, decorate for Christmas....talked my husband to help decorating the building with Linda,so that frees me to tofinish decorating inside, we had a couple good friends stopping by, to say hi...It was great seeing them......Heidie one of my best friends loved the shop....she said it's like coming to our house but it's a business, homey, and comfortable.It made me feel great that she loved the store, because I value her opinion.....it's great our friends or family coming and visit, and I'm always trying to put everybody to work.....FREE LABOR IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR A NEW BUSINESS.....HA HA HA !!!! Linda and I appreciate all the help and support ....we love them very much and it's been great sharing Morning Glory with our family and friends... OK I think that's it for tonight time for bed, WE are getting heat at Morning Glory tomorrow yeah yeah yeah!!!!

Monday!!!

Well what can i say,I'm not crazy about Mondays!!! It's been a busy day!! Everybody is asking for Christmas wreaths, trees, I make my own Christmas trees, they are quite beautiful, I do them with all the different evergreens, Christmas Time is my favorite time of the year! But this year is bittersweet, I love what I'm doing but so many things have changed that sometimes it makes me quite sad ...Morning Glory is something I waited my whole life for but my life is very different, I spent a lot of time by myself, and believe it or not that's not always good...(sometimes it is ).

I love working with my partner Linda but until we get busier she has another job on the side at night, so I miss not having my girls with me here working and sharing, It's just so much more fun having them around...Not only they are our staff, but they are also our friends.... I know that It's just a matter of time before we can have them back, but for now I feel pretty lonely...not having the girls here that means I'm here very long hours and I guess it's getting to me emotionally!!! and physically. I'm grateful for the progress we have made in such a short time, so I guess I better stop whining....I'm sorry... I know it will get better!!! OK if I'm going to do trees I better go...Thanks for listening Mel

I hope everybody had a great Sunday. It's been a great Sunday for me!!!! My show at David's Bridal was a hit!!! the brides loved the bridal bouquets that i designed...."Thank God". It was great...the staff at David's Bridal are FANTASTIC!!! Well as for last night the martinis didn't happen...

After work the martinis didn't sound so good, so postponed for another day!!!!! well that's the news I have for today!!! Nice cuddly night at home sounded much better!!!!!

Saturday!!!

Hi everybody!

It's Saturday and it's another long day at Morning Glory, I'm doing bridal party bouquets for David's Bridal, I was invited as a Guest to show my bouquets, the staff at David's Bridal are out of this world!!!! So when they asked me to design bouquets for their show I just couldn't say no...
but i guess it's going to be another seven day week!!!!!

I'm hoping to get out at a decent hour!!!
meeting friends, haven't seen them in a while and to be honest i could use a break!!! I'm just about designed out!!!!!! it will be nice to catch up on everything over a few drinks....thinking Espresso martinis will do....I have to be honest as much as I love my job sometimes it gets kind of lonely, I can't wait until my girls can come back, it's a lot more fun....but the way the economy is going who knows when that's going to be...so I guess I better get used spending a lot of nights by myself....ha ha ha !!!!!

Thank God that my friends love me enough if I don't go to them they come to me!!! So We might be having those martinis here if i don't get going.....ha ha ha !!!So have a great night and I will let you know how my show went and also how good those martinis were........Mel

IT'S MONDAY!!!!!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Well It's Monday! It's going to be a busy week!!! We are hoping!!!! But first of all I need to thank Meredi, for the patience, and support. I'm so sorry I derailed you plans for the weekend.I know you had your weekend planed, but I called and you came running......very typical of you, you are always there for everybody, your family, your friends, what would we do without you, love you!!! Thank you!!!!
Well I'm trying to very hard to make you proud of me.

Today I'm hoping that the Holiday Season will be a good one!!! We just opened up the Morning Glory Store two months ago, so I'm really not sure what to expect. We are looking forward to see what happens. WE LOVE OUR STORE AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE SEEING YOU, PLEASE COME AND SEE US YOU WON'T BE SORRY, HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE, CHAT WITH ME AND LINDA, AND GET BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS, THANKS , HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!

TIP OF HE DAY

Thanksgiving is upon us, when you order you table centerpiece choose the one with beautiful greenery, preferably one that has pine , ceders, holly, and fall colors, with a candle, after thanksgiving, once your home is decorated for Christmas, take your centerpiece back to your florist and ask them to add more Christmas colors to the design, this is very cost effective, they will only charge you for the flowers added, and labor, since all you Christmas greens are already incorporated in the design. Most florist will be more than happy to refresh the centerpiece. Make sure that you add water to the centerpiece everyday, to keep it as fresh as possible.
